Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at wanda@holthealthinsurance.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

We offer individual and family health insurance both on and off the Federal marketplace from a variety of companies. We also offer Medicare products such as Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement, dental, vision and hearing plans. We can advise you on Part D Drug Plans.

The Affordable Care Act advises that your cost for health insurance should be no more than 10% of your annual income if you are within a certain percentage of the poverty level. You may qualify for government tax credits to adjust your premium down to the 10% level. If you are well above the poverty level, your premiums can be more than 10% of your income.

Short Term Medical from UnitedHealthOne can help you fill a gap between health insurance plans. Here are some examples of when it can come in handy:

  • You just graduated from college and are looking for your first real job.
  • You missed the ACA open enrollment and need coverage.
  • You just lost your job and need coverage until a new one comes along.
  • You need coverage because you just turned 26 and came off your parents' plan.
  • You retired early but you have a few months until your Medicare starts.

A Medicare supplement plan, also called a Medigap plan, does just what it says -- it supplements Medicare Part A (hospital) and Part B (medical) by paying most of your out of pockets expenses. The network for Medicare supplement plans is Medicare because Medicare pays first and then the supplement. A Medicare Advantage plan is a different way to get Medicare by combining Parts A, B and D into one plan called Part C Medicare Advantage. You are still on Medicare but your claims are paid by your insurance company instead of the government. Think of it like an insurance plan you might have at work. It has a network and copays.

That is THE most asked question. It really depends of your situation. 50% of people have a supplement and 50% of people have an advantage plan. We can talk through your situation and find the right answer for you.
